Rating: 3/5 -- It's nothing that hasn't been seen numerous times before, and despite the injection of a starry line-up of some of the finest actors working today, the creative duo fail to bring anything particularly innovative or new to an already crowded table. Full Review

Rating: 2.5/5 -- It does manage to be an engrossing faux saga, nonetheless, despite a handful of foibles that work against its success. Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- A cunningly chosen soundtrack featuring the likes of Ace Frehley, Al Wilson and the Isley Brothers attempts to paper over the cracks withcool, but it's not convincing. Full Review

Rating: 3/5 -- In its lesser moments, the film is overwrought and derivative but, at its best, it has a real flavour of Friedkin, Coppola and Scorsese. Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- If you hear an unearthly sound during Blood Ties, it might be Sidney Lumet's ghost attempting to contact his lawyer. Full Review

Product Description:

Two brothers on opposite sides of the law find their fates colliding in this explosive period crime drama from writer/director Guillaume Canet (TELL NO ONE, LITTLE WHITE LIES). New York, 1974: Released from prison on good behavior, 50-year-old convicted killer Chris (Clive Owen) gets a second chance to go straight when he's invited to live with his younger brother Frank (Billy Crudup), a hot-shot cop who's never understood what their hard-working father Leon (James Caan) sees in his scofflaw sibling. But Frank hasn't given up on Chris yet, and in addition to helping his troubled brother find work, he also strives to repair Chris' fractured relationship with his ex-wife Monica (Marion Cotillard). Meanwhile, temptation soon gets the best of Chris, giving Frank no choice but to cast out his brother once and for all. Now it's only a matter of time before the two brothers meet again, and when they do, there will be hell to pay. Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana, and Matthias Schoenaerts co-star.
