Rating: A -- Something in the Air is a splendid title for a one-of-a-kind film -- a political mood movie that's more revelatory and exciting than almost any political melodrama. Full Review

I love that Assayas keeps me on my toes and I look forward to his next hot potato. Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- The hectic theories that have spiritual and erotic dominion over these young people and compel an elaborate network of secret meetings feel astonishingly inert. Full Review

Mr. Assayas’s ear for the idioms and the music of the time is impressive, as is his eye for the telling detail.

The great thing about Something in the Air is that the movie makes the thrill of that brief but all-encompassing rupture apparent without sentimentality or even (excessive) nostalgia. Full Review

Product Description:

Director Olivier Assayas' SOMETHING IN THE AIR stars Clément Métayer as Gilles, a politically radical French high-school student in 1971. Three years removed from the social upheaval of the youth riots of 1968, Gilles and his friends still espouse pro-Communist revolutionary rhetoric. After an act of vandalism against their school goes terribly wrong, they split up for the summer and follow different paths in their personal and political educations. SOMETHING IN THE AIR screened at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival.
