One of the most popular and well known big band leaders of the swing era, clarinetist Woody Herman led one of the most adventurous big bands of the 1930's and 40's and was constantly breaking new ground with music that was considered experimental for its time. In the late 1950's Herman got to record his big hits of the 30's and 40's for the first time in stereo, which was a brand new technology at the time. Presented here are the best of those audiophile recordings, reprising such wonderful standards as "Woodchopper's Ball," "Crazy Rhythm" and "Caldonia," backed by an all-star big band featuring many past alumni of his great bands of the 30's and 40's.
