The late Charles K.L. Davis was one of the most important figures of Hawaiian music and helped expose the music of his homeland to audiences around the world. Blessed with a remarkable singing voice, Charles won the Metropolitan Opera auditions in 1959 and went on to perform at the White House and toured Russia with the Ed Sullivan Show. On this classic album recorded in 1958, Charles presents various hymns of both the Christian and Hebrew traditions as a heartfelt prayer for world peace, in his hope that one day all the citizens of the world could live in harmony, which was a belief he always tried to promote through his music. All selections have been newly remastered.
