14 of Big Maceo Merriweather's classic recordings. Archetypical Chicago blues, mostly accompanied by the equally famous guitarist Tampa Red. The tragically short life of this hugely influential Blues pianist produced a limited volume of work under his own name which continues on Vol 2 (FABCD172) . He was also a prolific session performer and enjoyed huge success in 1941 with his original hit version of "Worried Life Blues", which became a blues standard almost overnight.
