A note of explanation for the uninitiated: Tom Weir (1914-2006) was a consummate traveler and a preeminent Scottish national icon. Dressed in a trademark knitted tam, walking boots and a Fair Isle sweater, Weir traversed one end of Scotland to the other, including the Scottish Highlands, broadcasting his journeys and his discoveries via a popular television program called Weir's Way. Eight of the episodes from that series appear in this box set, as they originally aired on Scotch television: ERISKAY, LERWICK AND NOSS ISLAND, NORTH EAST SCOTLAND, THE ROUGH BOUNDS, THE SEVEN MEN, ROMAN VILLAGE, INCHCAILLOCH and GLEN AFFRIC.
