After a daring and deadly mail truck robbery that sees the culprit ghost it past the feds, the Postmaster General assigns the case to tough guy Tom Mallory (Lee Tracy) and savvy sweet sister Doris Martin (Gloria Stuart). There's a catch, however: They can't stand each other. So, between bickering banter and cut-to-quick quips, the duo claw out a real clue: a mysterious "General Delivery" letter jam-packed with cash addressed to "Jane Turner." Trailing the letter from the East Coast to the West, the pair finally lands at their final destination: Los Angeles. But things are about get more complicated for Tom and Doris as two different Jane Turners come calling.
