Rating: 2/4 -- Fails to dig out the dramatic meat, despite a yeoman performance by Danny Aiello.
New York Post

Aiello dominates with equal measures of gruff bluster, pained confusion and not-so-quiet desperation. It's an impressively multifaceted performance.

Rating: 3/5 -- The movie has that 'shiny-object-syndrome'... it tends to get easily sidetracked by things that aren't important to the story. Full Review

Rating: 3/4 -- The dramatic engine may be real estate and bank loans, but the heart of the movie is family and character and the film provides plenty of both.

Well-meant, but only adequately realized, the movie is simply undersized.
Newark Star-Ledger

Rating: 3.5/5 -- Comes from a sincere (as in autobiographical) place, and, despite its familiar trappings, it's presented with an admirable lack of B.S. Full Review

Rating: 3/4 -- Brooklyn Lobster is the kind of smart, realistic indie family drama the movies should give us more often.

Product Description:

Based on a true story, BROOKLYN LOBSTER centers on a single New York family as they struggle with a failing family business. When the bank threatens to foreclose on his small lobster shop, Frank Giorgio (Danny Aiello) does all he can to save it. A landmark in the community, Giorgio's Lobster Farm belonged to Frank's father before him. As Frank focuses solely on rescuing the business, his wife (Jane Curtin) has taken his inattention to heart and wants out of the marriage. In the midst of their problems, their son (Daniel Sauli) returns home for the holidays to find both the business and his parents' marriage in trouble. BROOKLYN LOBSTER offers an intimate look at how a family relates when the elements that define them begin to change. Like most family relationships, the Giorgios' interactions are marked by both humor and heartache, giving this film a feeling of realism.
