It's rags to riches when a Victoria Vickers, a poor East End London girl, is found to be the sole heir to a vast fortune. Before she inherits her wealth however the conditions of her legacy state that she must be put in the charge of a guardian for three years to learn the refinement necessary for her new position. Vicky leaves her humble past and heads Westward where she will live with Mrs. Carrington to undertake her refinement but she must also leave behind the kindly couple that has cared for and her old pal Bert Grumett as she learns to fit in with high society.
