Rating: 4/5 -- Bringing together interviews with the main players, court transcripts and archive footage from the time, Southwest Of Salem is detailed and comprehensive but never drags. It's difficult viewing for all the right reasons. Full Review

Rating: B- -- Without the sloppy presentation of the confounding facts at the end of the film, it would have been a more impactful film. But what it does succeed at is bringing attention to a case that should never really be forgotten. Full Review

Rating: 3.5/5 -- It is clear from the start that Deborah Esquenazi's film couldn't care less about aesthetics... But it becomes a compelling aesthetic of its own, expressing an intimacy with the women and their families that the viewer can't help but fall into. Full Review

Rating: B -- Esquenazi is not a flashy filmmaker. Southwest of Salem is a plain documentary in terms of aesthetics... In many respects, this is actually beneficial since audiences will not need any further reason to be mad as hell Full Review
