Product Description:

EU-only two CD set containing three complete albums. Indian musician Ravi Shankar was one of the best-known exponents of the sitar in the second half of the 20th century as well as a renowned composer of Hindustani classical music. In 1956, he began to tour Europe and the Americas playing Indian classical music and increased it's popularity there in the 1960s through teaching, performance, and his association with violinist Yehudi Menuhin and The Beatles' guitarist George Harrison. This release presents three of his earliest American albums in their entireties: The Sounds of India, Improvisations - featuring the collaboration of American jazzmen Bud Shank, Gary Peacock, and Louis Hayes - and Three Ragas. All three masterpieces are perfect examples of Shankar's immense talent as both an instrumentalist and as a composer.
