[T]he ALS-themed drama YOU'RE NOT YOU is certainly a valuable film....Hilary Swank is heartbreaking as Kate, a buttoned-up classical pianist who develops ALS.
Los Angeles Times
Oct 9, 2014
Rating: 2/4 -- "You're Not You" fails to bring us the fear or the tears that this story warrants. It sticks in the mind no longer than it takes you to change shirts after that ice bucket dunking. Full Review

3 stars out of 4 -- [T]hanks to a fine screenplay, sure-handed direction and two beautiful performances, it becomes something more, something better....Something that earns your heart.
Chicago Sun-Times
Oct 9, 2014
Rating: 2.5/5 -- The movie has a message we've seen too many times already and it really doesn't do much to bring anything new to it. [Full review in Spanish] Full Review

Despite holes in the storytelling, Ms. Swank and Ms. Rossum keep it real. Full Review

Rating: 3/5 -- Very emotional, and even though the ending gives you some comfort, it can leave you feeling very cold. [Full Review in Spanish] Full Review

Based off Michelle Wildgen's book of the same name, You're Not You is both comical and touching, heartfelt and quirky, and an excellent performance piece about the power of friendship. Full Review

Product Description:

A career-driven woman diagnosed with ALS hires a young caregiver, whose ability to bring out the best in her devastated patient more than makes up for her lack of experience in this compassionate, uplifting drama. Kate (Hilary Swank) is in the prime of her life when she learns that she is suffering from the progressive, incurable motor-neuron disease. Devastated, she starts working with her husband Evan (Josh Duhamel) to seek out a full-time caregiver. In time, Kate and Evan's search leads them to Bec (Emmy Rossum) a floundering young woman who didn't let her lack of experience prevent her from applying for the job. Later, as Kate begins to reawaken Bec's latent sense of purpose, Bec inspires Kate to start living life on her own terms. Jason Ritter, Ernie Hudson, Frances Fisher, and Marcia Gay Harden co-star.
