The biggest problem with "Into the Ashes" is the time it wastes on moral dilemmas, when it's clear Nick has only one choice (and just as many shotguns). There is never any doubt where this is going, and the film takes far too long to get there.

A capable cast abets the director, but the film's slow pace and half-hearted perspective shifts don't generate the gravitas that's clearly intended.

Rather a slog...musters a grubby atmosphere but is otherwise a completely routine revenge tale, not unlike many that have come before.
