Description by OLDIES.com:
Elaine Hammerstein was a major Broadway star and had scores of film credits before starring in the 1925 production, Paint and Powder. This backstage saga of the rise of a poor Irish working girl to Broadway stardom, features a sexy sophisticated late night party with a hilarious bit between Elaine and a lecherous old millionaire. Director Hunt Stromberg went on to produce over 70 Hollywood films, most notably The Thin Man (1934).

...gives you a hint of the juicy titles but honestly
what a find. Elaine Hammerstein is just super
as Mary Nolan a "lily of the alley" who goes
through an assortment of ups and downs as she
battles to find her place as a star of the Great
White Way. Theodore von Eltz is her boyfriend
Jimmy who only wants to make her happy but
in the end his jealousy makes for a very down
beat ending.
There is even a lingerie party at a womanizing
producer's flat. It's when all the girls model
the underwear (found as gifts on their plates)
and walk up and down the dinner table. There
is another scene at the same dinner when Mary
is thrown into a bath (worthy of DeMille) to
sober up. Hilarious fun was to be had at those
1920s dinner parties!!!
Again Elaine is just gorgeous and makes you
wish more of her films were available.
