Even when the film gets slow, it's nearly impossible to turn away and risk missing the next beautifully framed shot.

Yeah, it's pretty silly -- and yet the film induces a lingering unease that's hard to shake. I lay this at the film's fairly nasty tone and some of the more disturbing images.

There is no denying the dreaminess of Soavi's stream-of-consciousness horror show.

I don't know what YOU generally look for in a horror flick, but unless it's "talking and lots of it" I'd stay far away from this one.

Sovai doesn't settle for the easy, opting instead for a more oblique and suggestive, rather than graphic, approach to the material

[Michele] Soavi creates a total, apocalyptic sense of dread that never leaves even the most domestic moments of the film.

This so-so thriller should appeal mostly to followers of Dario Argento, the Italian filmmaker noted for such gruesome scare-fest hokum.

Product Description:
Michele Soavi (CEMETERY MAN), best known as Dario Argento's protègè, directed this film, which was originally released as DEMONS 3. The story begins in the 13th century, as the Knights Templar destroy a village to erect a cathedral on the land. Flashing forward to the present, the cathedral is now haunted and, because a long sealed crypt has recently been opened, a torrent of evil spirits is rushing through the building, possessing its inhabitants and trapping them inside the building. As, one by one, each of them loses their minds, the remaining few must fight for their lives to stop the evil from escaping the church.
