During the trial of an infamous Gestapo head in 1987, Victor discovers the unsettling truth about his parents' actions during the French Occupation. His mother (Jeanne Moreau) is a closed book however, while his sister is also hostile to his quest for answers. In the end it takes a visit to the village where his parents hid during the war to unlock the secrets of the past.
