Rating: 8/10 --
Blade Runner 2049 was totally not what I expected. Yes, bits of it are dumb. But bits of it are very good, and some bits of it are positively awesome.

ScreenAnarchy
5 stars out of 5 -- Visually immaculate, swirling with themes as heart-rending as they are mind-twisting, 2049 is, without doubt, a good year. And one of 2017’s best.
Empire
2049 took the noir storytelling and neon futuristic facade of the 1982 original and crafted an engrossing, sprawling epic that opened up the franchise’s mythology...
USA Today
5 stars out of 5 -- [A] visually staggering film....BLADE RUNNER 2049 is a narcotic spectacle of eerie and pitiless vastness, by turns satirical, tragic and romantic.
The Guardian
3.5 stars out of 4 -- THE BLADE RUNNER mythos could not be in better hands....And camera genius Roger Deakins creates a look that both salutes and moves on from the original, forging its own dazzling identity.
Rolling Stone
Rating: 3/5 --
Blade Runner 2049 is a visual masterpiece, but a drudging descent for the sci-fi genre.

Product Description:
This sequel to Ridley Scott's landmark 1982 science-fiction film picks up the story 30 years later, giving viewers another detailed look at a future in which humanity live in polluted, overcrowded cities and rely on androids known as "replicants" for slave labor. In 2049 Los Angeles, K (Ryan Gosling) works as a "blade runner," a specialized law-enforcement agent dedicated to tracking down and killing rogue replicants. But when he uncovers a shocking conspiracy involving the robot laborers, he searches for the one person who might have answers: a former blade runner named Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), who vanished decades earlier. Directed by Denis Villeneuve (ARRIVAL, SICARIO). Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista, and Jared Leto co-star.
