A small town in post-Civil War Texas is swarmed by politicians and corrupt carpetbaggers seeking control through martial law. Vance Corgin (Roy Rogers) and Gabby Hornaday (Gabby Hayes) swear their allegiance to the Union in exchange for amnesty. When they are framed for murder by a power-hungry bureaucrat, Ballard (Cy Kendall), the former rebels must fight for their survival. Veteran director Joseph Kane employs an excellent supporting cast including accomplished actress Marjorie Reynolds, western leading lady Sally Payne and Leigh Whipper (Of Mice And Men).
