Product Description:

In their second film, Abbott and Costello play two dopey tie-salesmen who enlist in the army to avoid going to jail. Their plan works perfectly, until they discover that the cop they have run from has become their drill instructor! Hugely successful at the box office, this film also features the legendary singing group, the Andrews Sisters, who sing many of their greatest hits. Academy Award Nominations: Best Song ("Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B"), Best Scoring of a Musical Picture.

Plot Synopsis:

Con men Slicker Smith and Herbie Brown accidentally enlist in the U. S. Army with hilarious results.

Production Notes:

  • Followed by the 1946 sequel "Buck Privates Come Home," also starring Bud Abbott and Lou Costello.
  • "Buck Privates" was the first starring vehicle for burlesque and radio stars Abbott and Costello.
  • The Andrews Sisters sing the following songs: "The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B," "Bounce Me Brother with a Solid Four," "You're a Lucky Fellow, Mr. Smith," and "I'll Be with You in Apple Blossom Time."
