Rating: 3/5 -- Though it can't keep up that kind of energy throughout, especially as it's set mostly in one room, it's charming enough -- and short enough -- that there are no hard feelings. Full Review

Comes off like teenagers playing at Quentin Tarantino. Full Review

Gleefully amoral and esoteric, its destiny as a cult hit is probably already written, but otherwise it's a breath of fresh air that defies classification, despite the fact it comes at the expense of someone's last gasp. Full Review

Rating: 2/4 -- The film's subtle visual allure is all but stamped out by the impression that the director tries too hard to be an idiosyncratic auteur in the vein of Quentin Tarantino. Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- A lot of acting talent is squandered in Violet & Daisy, a sort of postmodern coming-of-age story about two teenage girls who kill people for a living, then play patty-cake as they plan their next hit. Full Review

Rating: 2/4 -- Violet and Daisy are just violent and crazy - which is, ultimately, the real problem. And why we should care about them remains the one mystery no one here can quite unravel. Full Review

This self-consciously quirky comedy-thriller... swings unevenly between passages of soul searching and bouts of cartoony violence in the Tarantino mould. Full Review

Product Description:

Two young women have a very unusual after-school job in this dark-hued comedy-drama. Teenagers Violet (Alexis Bledel) and Daisy (Saoirse Ronan) are best friends and share a passion for dresses from Barbie Sunday (Cody Horn), a well-known designer with a youthful style. Paying for those dresses can be expensive, so Violet and Daisy work to make some pocket money -- they're hired killers for Russ (Danny Trejo), who doles out assignments requiring their impressive skills with firearms and the "internal-bleeding dance" (which involves jumping up and down on their victims). Russ has instructed Violet and Daisy to knock off Michael (James Gandolfini), and gives them the location of his apartment and the time he should be home. However, though the gals arrive at the expected time, Michael does not, and while waiting for him to show up, they fall asleep. When they awake, they discover Michael is a seemingly nice guy who treats his unexpected guests with courtesy and kindness, and they're soon caught up in divided loyalties between their boss and their target. VIOLET & DAISY is the first directorial effort from Geoffrey Fletcher, who won an Academy Award for his screenplay for the film PRECIOUS: BASED ON THE NOVEL 'PUSH' BY SAPPHIRE.
