The Fabulous Flamingos
Music Lover: Mark Moscariello from
FORDS, NJ US -- October, 14, 2013
This is not a collection of the Flamingos Chance, Checker, and Decca recordings. There are no recordings from those labels on this CD, and original members Sollie McCelroy and Johnny Carter are not in the group. It is the End LP The Sound of the Flamingos from 1961/62, a continuation of their unique treatment of standards and original compositions written in the style of standards, like their previous 3 LPs on End, Requestfully Yours, Flamingo Favorites, and Flamingo Serenade. The difference from the previous 3 End LPs is Tommy Hunt and Nate Nelson are not on this recording, and Danny Boy is a saxophone instrumental without vocals. Anyone who likes the previous 3 LPs will also like this one.
