Entertainment Reviews:
Here again the directors work with an understanding that implication is always more terrifying than visual revelation... -- Grade: B+

There's a lot to admire with this remake, which does play better than the original, and manages to showcase a talented young actress's abilities.

Rating: 2/5 --
Olsen's performance is a worthy draw, yet even despite her best efforts, Silent House remains an intangible folly, caught between atmospheric chiller and inconsequential farce.

Filmmakers Chris Kentis and Laura Lau ('Open Water') should have plugged the original's plot holes and straightened out its logic.

It's still atmospheric enough, and like the original, has a quasi-theatrical event status. But it feels like a copy.

3 stars out of 5 -- Chris Kentis and Laura Lau prove they're still inventive nerve-janglers....Olsen suffers superbly...

Rating: 3.5/5 --
Silent House is less of a Boo! Monster! type of horror film and more of an intense psychological thriller that genuinely manages to keep you guessing.

Product Description:
Chris Kentis and Laura Lau (OPEN WATER) return to terra firma for this remake of the "real time" Uruguayan thriller LA CASA MUDA. Their summer cottage vandalized by squatters during the off-season, Sarah (Elizabeth Olsen), her father, and her uncle begin the laborious process of cleaning the place up when noises from within hint they are not alone. Now the deeper Sarah ventures into the derelict building, the further the secrets of her dark past are dragged out into the light. As with LA CASA MUDA, SILENT HOUSE was shot in one continuous take, a production style that allows the viewer to experience the swelling tension of Sarah's horror firsthand as she unlocks a diabolical mystery.
