Entertainment Reviews:
A ramshackle if amiable chase comedy.

Variety
Loud, silly and choc-a-block with madcap slapstick, Hiller's film may have an alarming plot premise but it's innocent enough for all but the youngest kids to enjoy.

Despite its "family comedy" packaging, parents may balk at taking kids to Carpool, where kidnapping at gunpoint is intended to trigger humor.

Carpool, the new Tom Arnold comedy, is one ride to avoid, unless truly idiotic car-chase slapstick comedies are the destination genre.

The whole madcap production is at best faintly amusing, at worst, painfully protracted.

Indifferently directed and almost aggressively tedious, we'd call it cliched if they'd even bothered getting the cliches right.

Description by OLDIES.com:
Tom Arnold plays happy-go-luckless Franklin, whose bungled attempt to get cash for his floundering carnival puts him on the lam and at the wheel of a full minivan. His delighted hostages: five kids en route to school. His undelighted hostage: Daniel (David Paymer), a career-first, family-second ad executive eager to drop off the kids and get to a presentation that could boost him up the agency ladder. Like a car driven through too many potholes, Daniel's priorities need realignment. And Franklin is just the right fella to show him how.
