Description by OLDIES.com:

A man humors a wife who wants a singing career despite the fact that he has a great voice.

Product Description:

A remake of WIFE, HUSBAND AND FRIEND (1938), EVERYBODY DOES IT is a frantic satire of the opera world. Businessman Paul Douglas is forced to suffer in silence when his wife (Celeste Holm) decides to become an opera star. Compelled to bankroll a concert for his missus, Douglas meets genuine opera diva Linda Darnell at the concert. While passing the time, Darnell discovers that Douglas in fact has a magnificent singing voice. Partly because he is flattered by Darnell's attentions, and partly to show up his wife, Douglas embarks on his own operatic career. But on the night of his debut, Douglas suffers a severe attack of stage fright, gets "doped up" on medicine in order to survive the performance, and hilariously humiliates himself in front of everyone. Darnell l angrily stalks out of the scene, and the sadder-but-wiser Douglas and Celeste Holm return to each other's arms.

Fox delivers "Everybody Does It" but falls down on the job! Movie Lover: from Union City, NJ US -- December, 21, 2012

This is one of my favorite film comedies, It's a very funny story with excellent 20th Century Fox stars. Unfortunately, the print used for this DVD title is in horrible condition. It starts out looking too dark, then gets too bright and continues that way throughout the print. As the film unrolls there's a large amount of loud optical noise & some serious marks and speckles. In a few other scenes there's an annoying humming obviously caused by a dirty soundtrack. It's the worst print of this film I ever seen. I saw this on AMC when it started to show classics.Their print was in excellent condition. This is a film from 1949 not 1931. This is a bad job obviously produced by people who don't know the product or care. This rarely happens with the Warner Archive. Fox had better wake up and realize the customers they're dealing with are very particular and won't settle for such sloppy work. Word gets out and sales will be affected. There is such a thing as "quality control" and it's unprofessional to ignore problems of this kind. It's also an insult to the intelligence of the serious film fan. Get your act together!!
