Rating: 1.5/4 -- Overall, it's a one note premise, where the characters, stuck up on a lift, have nowhere to go and quite fittingly the movie in turn, goes nowhere. Full Review

Rating: 4/5 -- The taut set-up is enjoyable all by itself, but it's the rising tide of three-way recriminations and despair that gives this film emotional clout. Full Review

Rating: 3/5 -- This minimalist thriller offers the same endurance-test nightmare as Open Water, only here the imperilled characters are marooned on a mountain, and wolves substitute for the sharks. Full Review

Product Description:

Qi Lei is a young performance artist whose depression has driven him to commit suicide in a performance piece which would consist of encasing himself in a block of ice until he suffers hypothermia. While his girlfriend is sympathetic, his sister, whom he lives with, fails to take him seriously. This unsettling, but largely unpolitical film was banned in China for its portrayal of angry, depressed youth. Never allowed to be shown there, the film was shot in 1994 and secretly brought to Amsterdam for editing.
