Entertainment Reviews:
What I found interesting while watching the film is that no attention is paid to aspects of aspects of society, especially in the United States, that could very well have played a part in these women and girl developing such severe eating disorders.

I on the Arts
I thought I had issues with food -- I just like it too much. But to see the four women portrayed in Lauren Greenfield's startling documentary Thin is to see people at war not only with food but with their own minds and bodies.

Flick Filosopher
[The film] makes its case by neither exploiting its subjects nor soft-pedaling their plight.

Description by OLDIES.com:
This HBO Documentary film goes inside the walls of Renfrew Center, a residential facility for the treatment of women with eating disorders, closely following four young women (ages 15-30) who have spent their lives starving themselves, often to the verge of death. The film chronicles the pervasiveness of restrictive eating behaviors (most of the women profiled learned dysfunctional eating habits from their mothers while growing up), as well as the failure of our current health-insurance industry to address its clients' needs, while never shifting focus from the women themselves.
