Description by OLDIES.com:
The hoolock gibbons of Bangladesh have been brought to the brink of extinction by the relentless destruction of their forested habitats throughout the country, even in the most highly protected forest reserves. Numbering in the several thousands only 30 years ago, the hoolocks of Bangladesh now number less than 300, and that population is dwindling fast. The Wildlife Trust Of Bangladesh developed and co-produced this one-hour, high-def, TV documentary special on the plight of the hoolocks in Bangladesh, giving the viewing audience a sense of awareness and urgency of the dire situation facing the hoolocks. It is also hoped that this program will generate a renewed interest in conservation efforts, helping to bring this species back from the brink of oblivion in Bangladesh. There is an incredible international list of noted primatologists and wildlife biologists in this program, ranging from Dr. David Chivers of Cambridge University in England, Dr. Md. Anwarul Islam and Enam Ul Haque of the Wildlife Trust of Bangladesh, and many other top Bangladesh government officials.
