Much of the soundtrack is given over to dialog so that we can hear the thoughts of Jonathan, his conversations with others, the pronouncements of the elders. It is all pretty bad. Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- The cinematic equivalent of that girl you might have met circa 1973 who insisted that the dog that just evacuated his bowels on your sidewalk was 'expressing his creativity.' Full Review

Richard Bach's best-selling parable for freshmen becomes on screen a very spelled-out allegory, complete with flat voice-overs and pretentious Neil Diamond soundtrack. Full Review

Product Description:

Based on the best-seller by Richard Bach (who sued the production for not following his book) about Jonathan, an existential seagull in search of the meaning of life. Score by Neil Diamond (who sued the production for replacing some of his music). Director Ovady Julber claimed the film plagiarized his film "La Mer." A troubled production that fell flat. Academy Award Nominations: 2, including Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing.
