Rating: 3/5 -- Touches of ethereal gothic atmosphere and a neat funereal flamboyancy make this slick shock package a cut above the rest. Full Review

Rating: 3/4 -- The film offers more than just a gimmick, thanks to the shifting dynamics between the characters, the emphasis on evil at both ends of the spectrum, and a shot of witchcraft into the usual vampiric proceedings. Full Review

The rest of the costumed crew, led by that veteran horror hand, Peter Cushing, as the twins' witchhunting uncle, who chases the fanged Count and his retinue, hardly give Twins of Evil a good name. Full Review

Rating: B- -- It's well performed, adequately eerie (with terrific lighting), superbly scored, and filled with enough heaving bosoms to pass muster. At the end of the day, that's all one can truly ask of a B-level fright film. Full Review

Rating: 3.5/4 -- The true Twins of Evil are not the sisters but the puritan witch-burner, Gustav Weil, and the vampire aristocrat, Count Karnstein: The men have similarly cadaverous faces, and at one point are introduced by looming closeups that reinforce the resemblance. Full Review

...an unashamedly sexy, luridly violent, and well-produced horror movie shot with actors who weren't especially embarrassed to be a part of the bloody happenings on screen. Full Review

Some moments of Gothic atmosphere though, don't quite dispel the feeling that much of the plot is devoted to developing situations where its leading ladies might be disrobed for the camera. Full Review

Description by OLDIES.com:

Two beautiful orphaned identical twins, Maria and Frieda Gellhorn (Playboy centerfold models Mary and Madeleine Collinson), move to the village of Karnstein to live with their uncle GustavWeil (played by Hammer horror favorite, Peter Cushing), a fanatical puritan and leader of the local witch-hunting "Brotherhood." The village Count (Damien Thomas, Never Let Me Go), an evil man who secretly practices Satanism, uses black magic and transforms into a vampire. Unhappy with her new life, Frieda seeks escape and tragically falls under the spell of the Count. Now overcome with an insatiable hunger for human blood, Frieda has to hide her secret from her sister, and escape her uncle's killing grasp! The wait is over! This Hammer horror classic is now available from Synapse Films in an all-new 1080p high-de nition transfer and loaded with exciting exclusive special features. Also stars Kathleen Byron (Black Narcissus), David Warbeck (Lucio Fulci's The Beyond) and Dennis Price (Jess Franco's Vampyros Lesbos)!

Product Description:

Stunning identical siblings, one good and the other decidedly evil, are the main characters in this unusual gothic horror film. One of the young women is a vampire, and the other is the "nice girl next door." When the townspeople decide to burn the vampire at the stake they make a tragic error.
