Entertainment Reviews:
...More than anything else, [it] reflects the drive, conviction and intelligence of Jessica Lange....COUNTRY has the sharp edge of informed journalism.

It has been so long since I've seen a Hollywood film with specific political beliefs that a funny thing happened: The movie's anger moved me as much as its story. The story is pretty moving, too.

While Lange's performance alone elevates something like Country... There's something a bit stagnant about the melodrama of William D. Witliff's screenplay, which takes a compelling predicament but can't rightly fashion the familial characteristics.

Product Description:
A family of farmers struggle to retain possession of their property during a difficult financial crisis. They are suddenly faced with the prospect of losing their land to the insensitive rules of a government bureaucracy more concerned with paperwork than people.
Plot Synopsis:
At one time, banks and government agencies encouraged those who owned small farms to borrow funds -- and one family gladly took them up on their offer. But the good times have gone, and the financially strapped family is about to lose the land that their ancestors have farmed for generations. As their farm (like that of so many of their neighbors) approaches the auction block, the mother tries to hold her family together.
