[T]here's enough disposable fun to be had in a script that relishes every chance to prove it's not trying too hard...

[T]he movie morphs into an action comedy with a tonal complexity that marks it as a very contemporary creative project....21 JUMP STREET is a riot of risks that pay off, the biggest of which might be handing Tatum funny business. -- Grade: A-

... 21 Jump Street is consistently funny throughout, with a few really huge laughs peppered in the script. Full Review

Not that the original series was high-brow/must-see television, but I figured any remake of it in the 21st century would at least be far more ambitious than this tired bit of recycling. Full Review

Rating: 2.5/4 -- A surprisingly strong film with a solid balance of humor and heart, actually making us feel for and identify with the characters rather than just go through the usual paces of an R-rated comedy. Full Review

3 stars out of 5 -- [T]his mix of buddy-buddy cop movie and high-school comedy is surprisingly fun-packed from start to finish.

3 stars out of 4 -- [O]ne of the pleasures of 21 JUMP STREET is that the screenplay by Michael Bacall and Jonah Hill is happy to point out all of its improbabilities; the premise is preposterous to begin with, and they run with that.

Product Description:

The television series that shot Johnny Depp to stardom makes the leap to the big screen in this reboot starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) have the kind of faces that could let them pass for teenagers. Eager to prove themselves as effective policemen, the pair join the Jump Street program and go undercover to investigate a high-school drug ring. Now, the only thing more daunting than the prospect of taking on violent adolescent dope slingers is the possibility of experiencing the torture of their teenage years all over again. Ice Cube, Brie Larson, and Rob Riggle co-star.
