Jordan’s acting simmers with the force of someone who’s absorbed a thousand slights, a thousand insults, a thousand rages, and will reverse that karma by keeping his cool.

The chemistry between Jordan and Foxx is by turns brittle, intimate and warm....Individually, they each put in arresting performances.

Rating: 3/5 -- Just Mercy features a trio of fine performances from its excellent cast, but thanks to a very by-the-numbers approach to its overly-familiar story, it ends up being a rather standard and forgettable procedural. Full Review

Rating: 4.5/5 -- Foxx won an Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles in Ray and I'd say his performance as McMillian rivals that of his Oscar-winning role. Full Review

Rating: 3.5/5 -- Based on a true story and a real man in Bryan Stevenson, the film is as powerful as this man's conviction. Full Review

Product Description:

With numerous opportunities laid down before him right after he graduated from Harvard Law School, Bryan Stevenson's (Michael B. Jordan) career is shaping up to be an impressive one. He, however, decides to forgo all of those offers in order to go to Alabama and represent those who cannot afford a lawyer and those who are wrongly accused. There, he meets Walter McMillian (Jaime Foxx), a man who has been convicted of murder despite the lack of evidence. To obtain justice, he must now navigate a world that is inherently against people like them. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
