This extraordinary collection brings together 29 of the most disturbed songs ever written. With the sub-texts ranging from the effects of too much stimulant ('Speed Crazy' by Slick Slavin), all the way to the darkest subject of all, the taking of one's own life, as represented here on Billie Holiday's frightening 'Gloomy Sunday' and on the somewhat more tongue in cheek, 'Suicide' from Louie Innis, or 'the rockin' but dour 'I Think I'm Gonna Kill Myself' by Buddy Knox. The cause of more mental imbalance than any other - the loss of love - is of course given much coverage here too, and while not the comfiest listen, this eclectic collection of tracks also serves as a reminder that there's always someone worse off than yourself.
