Entertainment Reviews:

Description by OLDIES.com:

This DVD includes unique footage plundered by Russian Troops in 1945. Compiled as it is from German newsreels which were made under the influence of Goebbels' Ministry of Propaganda, these are by no means accurate histories but allow unique insight into how the period leading up to and including WWII was presented to the German people. This volume deals with the first part of the year 1942, covering events on all the German fronts.

Product Description:

Don't be misled by the title: the A NEWSREEL HISTORY OF THE THIRD REICH series does not construct a factual history of the rise and fall of Hitler's Reich from newsreel footage screened for the Allies, but deliberately presents an assemblage of distorted, fallacious, and propagandistic newsreel clips shot by the Nazis for German audiences during World War II. The preponderance of footage at hand was seized from the S.S. by the Russians and provides a window into how WWII-era Germans perceived the events of the war, and how Hitler's government "spun" those events to them. This ninth volume covers such topics as the Nazis' advance on Leningrad.
