Acclaimed filmmaker David Sutherland (THE FARMER'S WIFE) fashions another moving study of rural poverty with his PBS documentary COUNTRY BOYS. The six-hour film spans three years in the lives of Kentucky teenagers Chris Johnson and Cody Perkins, who struggle with the universal pangs of adolescence while dealing with the poverty and dysfunction of their native Appalachia, where limited opportunities further compound the teens' feelings of hopelessness and despair.
