It's a lot of utterly preposterous fun, even if it doesn't quite hang together. Full Review

...Entertaining....The picture is beautifully photographed....Outstanding special effects...
Variety

Rating: 2.5/4 -- It's easy to see why many love this picture (great premise, fine action scenes, a score by Queen, Connery) but just as easy to see why many despise it (cheesy production values, stone-faced Lambert, ludicrous supporting characters, thudding dialogue). Full Review

Lambert, with his beetle brow, broken nose, and vaguely crossed eyes, remains an amiable oddball presence, and Sean Connery radiates charm and nobility in a bit as an elder immortal who shows Lambert the rules of the game. Full Review

Rating: 2.5/4 -- Connery, on the other hand, is a welcome sight. It is director Russell Mulcahy's style that doesn't work here. Full Review

Its relevance in the imaginary of those who grew up in the eighties is such that none of its two horrendous sequels are capable of destroying it. [Full Review in Spanish] Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- Since none of the characters makes sense even on the movie's own terms, Highlander keeps on exploding for almost two hours, with nothing at stake. Full Review

Product Description:

Russell Mulcahy's original saga of immortal Scotsman Connor Macleod, one of a race of immortals who can only be killed when beheaded with a sword. After living in peace for four centuries, he is challenged by an old enemy named Kurgan.

During a fierce sword battle in the 1500s, Connor MacLeod, a simple Scotsman known as a poor fighter, is mortally wounded -- but he does not die. MacLeod learns from the mysterious Ramirez that he is of a race of immortals. These rare knights never age and never reproduce, they can only meet death by the blade of another of their kind. Leaping back and forth through the centuries, MacLeod once again meets the evil Kurgan who nearly killed him 500 years ago.
