Rating: 4/5 -- There's a lot to love in Sunset Song, but there could be even more with a more focused, less comprehensive narrative. Full Review

Rating: 3/5 -- Icy and warmly nostalgic, sprawling but deeply intimate, gorgeous but glacial. Full Review

3.5 stars out of 4 -- Davies gives the book's -- and its heroine's -- sense of the agony and the ecstasy of growing up a gloriously personal touch.
Rolling Stone
May 13, 2016
Rating: 3.5/4 -- It blooms with moments of astonishing beauty: a yellow frenzy of springtime trees; a still room where the light slants in the window like a reaching hand; a desolate landscape, impossibly green. Full Review
Seattle Times

Rating: 3/4 -- It's an absorbing, finely composed, fretful film. But when it's over, there is as much relief for the filmgoer as appreciation for the filmmaker's art. Full Review

4 stars out of 4 -- [O]ne of the great director Terence Davies' best films: an example of old school and new school mentalities coming together to create a challenging and unique experience.

Rating: 3/4 -- "Sunset Song" is not without flaws, but it's an art film of uncommon beauty. Full Review
