Description by OLDIES.com:
Taken from two seperate shows in New York from 1989, this DVD features the Sun Ra Arkestra performing 2 fantastic live shows.
Product Description:
One of the most eccentric, flamboyant, and innovative jazz musicians of the 20th century, Sun Ra drew equally from the past and the future, combining the sounds of ancient Egypt and Africa with the electric sounds and aesthetic of science fiction. In this mind-bending live performance, Sun and his Arkestra take jazz to sizzling new dimensions; Sun Ra plays several knockout piano solos and sings "This World Is Not My Home" (Ra always claimed to be from outer space) and "Let's Go Fly A Kite." June Tyson plays violin, and at the end of the second set the Arkestra slips into a luscious "African lounge" arrangement.
