Having decided that she needs to make a living to supplement her husband's pittance of a pension, the elderly Hetty Wainthropp (Patricia Routledge) sets herself up as a private eye determined to bring miscreants to justice. This bizarre premise for a show proved surprisingly popular when HETTY WAINTHROPP INVESTIGATES first aired back in 1996, and a second series was quickly commissioned. Funny yet compelling due to the deft detective skills Hetty possesses, the show strikes a perfect balance between drama and comedy. Ably abetted by her assistant, Geoffrey (Dominic Monaghan), Hetty is a wise and slightly eccentric sleuth who provides plenty of laughs throughout the six episodes of the show presented here.
