Doña Perfecta

Directed by Alejandro Galindo, one of the important filmmakers of the Mexican Golden Age, and starring legendary actress Dolores Del Rio, DONA PERFECTA dramatizes political change in Mexico through the microcosm of the family. Pepe is a liberal farmer who arrives in Santa Fe to visit his aunt, Dona Perfecta, as well as to teach the townspeople a new way of living. Some of the people resent his ideas, however, and he is forced to take refuge with his aunt. But Dona Perfecta is as traditional as any of the townspeople, and only suffers her nephew because he is family. Issues come to a head when Pepe and his cousin Rosario fall in love, forcing Dona Perfecta to try and come to terms with Pepe and his beliefs.
