TOMATOMETER
Jaoui neatly, gently, firmly slips political commentary into the film's articulate mayhem. -- Grade: A
Entertainment Weekly
As critical as she can be of her characters, Ms. Jaoui portrays them with the evenhanded sympathy of a wise therapist who likes her patients despite their annoying foibles.
New York Times
[A] beautifully strange and affecting comedy....It's about people struggling valiantly, and not always in vain, to bridge the spaces between them.
Wall Street Journal
3 stars out of 5 -- [The filmmakers] take on issues of class, race and loyalty in a droll way that has shades of Woody Allenesque humor. Watchable, well acted adn eminently appealing to lovers of Gallic cinema.

Product Description:
The acclaimed filmmaking team of Agnes Jaoui and Jean-Pierre Bacri (LOOK AT ME, THE TASTE OF OTHERS) returns for another Woody Allen-esque dramedy of manners. Jaoui plays Agathe Villanova, a successful feminist and author who is about to throw her hat into the political ring. Before she does that, she heads to the south of France to visit her childhood home and help her sister, Florence (Pascale Arbillot), take care of some family affairs. Once there, Agathe is approached by bumbling documentary filmmaker Michel Ronsard (Bacri) and his new partner, Karim (Jamel Debbouze)--who happens to be the son of Agathe's lifelong family maid, Mimouna (Mimouna Hadji)--who want to make a video profile of her. Against her better judgment, she accepts. As the days wear on, the assembled characters find themselves wrapped up in crises of their own.
With LET IT RAIN, Jaoui reconfirms her ability to craft a rich, fully developed narrative that bristles with humor. This time around, she adds further dramatic dimension to the drama by introducing elements of racism and classism into the story. Yet just when the situation appears to be too dire, she allows humor to return. It's a delicate balancing act, but with the help of Bacri and her accomplished cast, she makes it seem effortless and easy. LET IT RAIN makes for some thoughtfully entertaining viewing.
