Entertainment Reviews:
After a series of prolonged climaxes, with its potential victims staring directly into the camera and shaking with fright, the "Unknown" finally emerges as a type of rolling rubber mattress, disappointingly unhorrific in content and appearance.

Monthly Film Bulletin
Rating: 3/5 --
Fairly dreary sci-fi of the oozing monster stripe with a strong lead.
Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC)
Rating: B --
Despite its absurd storyline, it's a surprisingly entertaining film that won't deaden your brain cells even if it's a trashy B film sci-fier.

Product Description:
A troop of British commandos return from a covert mission suffering from mysterious symptoms and horrific burns. Dr. Adam Royston, an atomic scientist, suspects lethal radiation, and must track down the source of this menace before it overtakes humanity. A desolate area of Scotland is threatened by the cyclical appearance of a giant radioactive blob of mud that arises from the depths of the Earth to consume everything in its path. Good, atmospheric sci-fi horror from the masters at Hammer.
