Domestically available for the first time on CD is the debut release by Sweden's Silver Mountain. Originally released in 1983, SHAKIN' BRAINS was a landmark release, as it was among the first albums to introduce melodic power metal to Sweden's shores. Brandishing a sound that combined Deep Purple with New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Silver Mountain's debut helped usher in a style of metal that permeates the scene to this day. The band also employed elements of classical music, a tendency that would later be made famous by fellow Swede Yngwie Malmsteen. SHAKIN' BRAINS also featured future Malmsteen alumni Jens Johansson (Dio, Stratovarius) and his brother Anders Johansson (Hammerfall, Empire).
