Entertainment Reviews:
4 stars out of 5 -- [W]riter-director Robert Eggers’s Sundance prize-winning feature debut is an atmospheric chiller rooted in the fertile soil of religious zealotry, social isolation and original sin.
The Guardian
[A] crafty calling card brimming with beauty and terror. Eggers pulls us into the supernatural with subtle cunning and meticulous attention to detail.
Rolling Stone
Judiciously gory but never bloodthirsty....Its blanket of moonlit dread is certainly form-fitting; the narrative pokiness and precisely composed visuals place it firmly in the cult horror world...
Los Angeles Times
The Witch is visually resplendent, aurally meticulous, and singularly crafted to evoke dread from opening to close.

Cinapse
As straight horror, THE WITCH is something special, transporting audiences to a bygone era that would look plenty frightening even without the paranormal activity that engulfs it.
A.V. Club
Rating: 4/4 --
Its masterful blending of the sacred and the blasphemous makes it not just a great horror film, but perhaps the first true horror masterpiece of the new century.

The Dispatch (Lexington, NC)
[T]his startling, assured feature debut from New Hampshire-born, Brooklyn-based writer-director Robert Eggers has one foot in early American history and another in legend and fairy tale.
Boston Globe
Product Description:
A devout Puritan family in 1630s New England are exiled from their village, and struggle to survive in their new home situated at the edge of a mysterious forest. The sinister, witching forces in the wilderness emerge silently to terrorize them, first by kidnapping the youngest of their five children. As their life-sustaining crops fail, the clan fall victim to paranoia and fear as they begin to turn on one another, eventually suspecting teenage daughter Thomasin (Anya Taylor-Joy) of witchcraft. With the vast majority of the dialogue culled from primary sources from the time period, Robert Eggers' debut feature THE WITCH is a terrifying glimpse into a family descending into madness.
