Product Description:
To be certain, few contemporary architects own a history as colorful or diverse as that of Rem Koolhaas. A native of Holland, Koolhaas grew up amid the ruins of post-WWII Rotterdam, before packing up and relocating halfway around the world - to Indonesia. He enjoyed fruitful careers as an author, a scriptwriter and a movie director, then found his life's greatest passion in building design and developed an exciting and wholly personalized architectural style. As co-directed by Markus Heidingsfelder and Min Tesch, the biographical documentary REM KOOLHAAS: A KIND OF ARCHITECT charts the evolution of the Koolhaas Style and examines various projects that the visionary has launched, both successful (as in the case of Seattle's Central Library) and aborted for various reasons. The film draws on rich and detailed discussions with Koolhaas himself, but works in numerous cutaways to illustrate both Koolhaas's architectural creations and abstract concepts such as Koolhaas's ideas for a "covered city."
