Product Description:

"Return To Lonesome Dove" - Return to the story that captured both the spirit of the Old West and the hearts of America. Return to the breathtaking locations, dramatic confrontations, stirring romance and thrilling action. Picking up after the seven-time Emmy(R) Award-winning mini-series, "Lonesome Dove," "Return To Lonesome Dove" is based on characters created by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Larry McMurtry. Like it's successor, this epic mini-series features an all-star cast including Jon Voight, Barbara Hershey, Rick Schroder, Louis Gossett, Jr., Oliver Reed and Reese Witherspoon continuing the sweeping story of three ex-Texas Rangers. After returning the body of Gus McCrae to Lonesome Dove, Woodrow Call takes on the challenge of driving a herd of wild mustangs 2500 miles north to the Hat Creek Ranch in Montana. In his travels, however, Gus will be forced to endure tragedy, triumph, despair and deceit before he ever gets there. From Indian battles and deadly gunfights, to broken hearts and broken dreams, it's another incredible adventure you'll be able to treasure time and time again. "Return To Lonesome Dove" continues a classic tradition: to perfectly capture and preserve the pioneer spirit of the American West for generations to come. "Streets Of Laredo" - In this third installment of the "Lonesome Dove" saga, Woodrow F. Call (James Garner) is a wizened bounty hunter who has suffered the accidental death of his son and the financial failure of his ranch in Montana. Call is hired by Colonel Terry, a wealthy railroad president from New York, to track down and kill the vicious, cold-blooded Mexican bandit, Joey Garza (Alexis Cruz). As he travels southward in pursuit of Garza, Call encounters familiar characters from Lonesome Dove such as his faithful ex-Ranger comrade, Pea Eye (Sam Shepard), and the former prostitute, Lorena (Sissy Spacek). He also meets an array of new characters, such as Ned Brookshire (Charles Martin Smith), a pudgy, timid East Coast accountant; Maria, Garza's fiery, attractive mother (Sonia Braga) ; and Famous Shoes (Wes Studi), the most celebrated tracker of his day. Call's relentless pursuit of Garza drives both men across Texas deep into Mexican territory and matches an old man's skills against a young man's daring. "Dead Man's Walk" - Set in the Texas Republic in the early 1840s, a time in which three cultures-Anglo, Hispanic, and Comanche-were in furious conflict over the same harsh land, we are introduced to Augustus McCrae and Woodrow Call, the heroes of "Lonesome Dove." Gus (David Arquette) and Call (Jonny Lee Miller) are young Rangers, ripe for adventure, and they get it with the Texas-Santa Fe expedition, an ill-conceived effort on the part of some freebooters and adventurers to capture Santa Fe and annex New Mexico. Led by the land pirate Caleb Cobb (F. Murray Abraham), and guided by the legendary Bigfoot Wallace (Keith Carradine) and his mountain-man friend Shadrach (Harry Dean Stanton), the group fights several engagements with the great Comanche warchief Buffalo Hump (Eric Schweig), is whittled down by the silent Apache, Gomez (Victor Aaron), and is captured without resistance by the Mexican army. Marched south by a resolute Mexican officer, Captain Salazar (Edward James Olmos), they survive bear attacks, ice storms, and the rigors of the barren desert known as the Jornada del Muerto. In the end, they arrive at the leper colony of San Lazaro, where black and white beans are drawn to determine which of the invaders will live and which will die. Accompanying the men on this trek is the colorful, amply fleshed whore known as the Great Western-Matilda Jane Roberts (Patricia Childress). In Austin, Gus meets the love of his life, Clara Forsythe (Jennifer Garner), and, in El Paso, they encounter the great English lady, Lucinda Carey (Haviland Morris), who, in the startling climax, helps them survive a last encounter with the wild men, led by the great Comanche, Buffalo Hump.
