i watched intently while this series played out nothing magical about it but the story lines seemed to drag and forever dark. all in all i decent western in the lines of wagon train and rawhide yet something is lacking throughout the series, i couldn't put my finger on it sorta entertaining yet dull

The Dakotas premiered in 1962 as a spinoff to Cheyenne starring Clint Walker! The good news about this series are the gritty action packed episodes and of course Jack Elam and Chad Everett! The bad news about this series are the other 2 actors Larry Ward and Michael Greene who could not act if their lives depended on it! In these series, you have notable guest stars like DeForest Kelly (Star Trek) and Telly Savalas (Kojak) besides that The Dakotas only lasted one season due to violent gunfighting in a church scene in the very last episode! In 1963, both The Dakotas and Cheyenne rode off into the sunset for good!
