Product Description:
This collection of rare Dizzy Gillespie performance footage is highlighted by his appearance with Charlie Parker; the two jam together on "Hot House," backed by Dick Hyman on piano, Sandy Block on bass and Charlie Smith on drums. Dizzie and his Big Ol' Orchestra play "Salt Peanuts," "Be Bab A Lee' Ba," "Oop Bop Sh' Bam," "I Waited For You," "He Beeped When He Should Have Bopped" and others. This set features Dave Burns accompanying Milt Jackson on vibes, Pee Wee Moore on bass, John Lewis on piano, and Joe Harris on drums. Dizzie appears in a more subdued milieu on "Things To Come" and "Lorraine," playing with Leo Wright on alto sax, Lalo Schifrin on piano, Bob Cunningham on bass, and Chuck Lampkin on drums.
