Entertainment Reviews:

A.V. Club - 07/16/2015
"A gripping dramatization, THE STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT puts its audience in the same position as the head researcher, Dr. Philip Zimbardo..."
Los Angeles Times - 07/16/2015
"Much of what happens during THE STANDFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT seems just too unbelievable to be true. Sadly, and fascinatingly, director Kyle Patrick Alvarez's film depicts the real events of a 1971 study on authority and situational behavior..."
A.V. Club - 01/26/2015
"Alvarez proves highly attentive to the tricky legal, ethical and scientific minefield that Zimbardo must navigate as various prisoners try to either escape or make their case before a faux parole board..."
Chicago Sun-Times - 07/30/2015
"In the chilling and conversation-provoking THE STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT, Crudup delivers his usual excellent work..."
Washington Post - 07/30/2015
"[T]he movie features impressive performances from a handful of this generation’s most promising stars, and serves as an uncannily timely reminder about structures, systems, the abuse of power and the fragility of identity."

Product Description:

Kyle Patrick Alvarez's drama THE STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT is based on real events. Dr. Philip Zimbardo (Billy Cruddup) arranges for 24 volunteers to be either guards or inmates a makeshift prison system so that he can observe how their behavior changes. Eventually those playing guards become abusive and dictatorial, while the inmates band together to survive the harsh conditions. What the Stanford professor doesn't expect is that he and the people running the experiment are also being transformed by taking part in it. THE STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT screened at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
