Product Description:
An emotionally charged story of racial tension and social injustices in the 1940's south, SUDIE AND SIMPSON is a moving account of the relationship between the two title characters, the former a 12 year-old girl (Gilbert) and the latter a gentle black man (Gossett Jr.). Based on the novel by Sara Flanigan Carter, Sudie and Simpson become fast friends when Sudie realizes that he is a kindred soul, and soon the two form a relationship that threatens the white population of their town. When Simpson is unjustly accused of child molestation, Sudie must do something to save her friend before the town decides to lynch the innocent Simpson.
